There is something so peaceful about watching the sunset. And I will never cease to be amazed how no two sunsets are alike.

Multnomah Falls
Last week I posted what I do when life gets to be too much (you can read about it here). My trip up the Columbia River Gorge always includes stopping at 1 or more waterfalls. I love watching water. The ocean, rivers, waterfalls . . . it doesn't matter. They all speak to something deep inside me bringing about a sense of peace.
There is also the paradox that water gives us. Watching the graceful flow of a river or seeing water tumble off the side of a cliff or listening to the crashing waves of the ocean all bring that feeling of peace. But always in the back of my mind is the reminder that these peace filled scenes can turn destructive and violent. For some reason that adds to my enjoyment. Even though I know the destructive power of water, I get to sit and enjoy the peace of the scene in front of me. I'm sure there is a metaphor for life in there somewhere.
